Ten Reasons to Choose NC

1. We Are Student Centered

Ever feel like some schools are more concerned with the faculty than the student? At Northwestern College, we're focused on student satisfaction and outcomes. Personalized service and attention from professionals in academics, technology, financial assistance and career services will help you achieve your specific goals.

2. The Most Direct Path to Your New Career

Northwestern College has degree offerings in areas that provide our graduates with skills that are highly valued by today's employers. Business, criminal justice, paralegal, medical assisting, massage therapy, radiologic technology, and nursing are a few of the associate degrees available. Our associate degree programs emphasize a focused, career-centered curriculum that does not sacrifice the quality education that students and employers demand. We frequently research the job market to make certain we are offering those career programs in which the greatest job growth is expected. We proudly offer a direct path to your new career – with a career focused curriculum.

3. Advocating Health Care

The demand for nurses has increased and there are not enough schools to meet the needs of the community. NC has, in response to this demand, developed an associate degree in nursing. We have also added a radiologic technology degree offering for students interested in the field of radiology.

4. Financial Aid Available for Those Who Qualify

One of the first questions many of our prospective students ask is, "How will I pay for college?" The answer is the right combination of financial aid programs that can help you manage the costs involved in obtaining your degree. The Financial Assistance Department is prepared to discuss how a combination of scholarships, Pell grants, and student loans are available to those who require assistance and qualify. It can be a complicated process, but we are here, ready to help you make the best decisions.

5. Instructors with Real-World Experience

Many instructors from NC have real-world experience working in the fields they teach. These are the people you want to learn from to be a success in the same career. At NC, our instructors don't just teach a course, they also live it.

6. Providing Exceptional Services

Academic and career resources are available to help students achieve success. From the start, our support staff is committed to meeting need by helping students select courses and apply for financial aid. Professional and peer tutors are available all year round and graduates receive employment assistance. These are just some of the exceptional services NC has to offer.

7. Career Assistance

Once you have the degree, do you know how to begin your new career? NC knows the reason you come to school is to gain the skills you need to prepare for a career in tomorrow's growing job fields. Among those skills are preparing for and conducting your job search; although we cannot guarantee job placement following graduation, we can assure you that we will be with you every step of the way as you near graduation and begin your employment search.

8. Accreditation

Northwestern College has more programmatic accreditations and approvals than any other similar two year, private college in the state of Illinois. We are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and strive to meet the criteria established by the specific boards that approve individual programs of study.

9. Acknowledging our Veterans

NC offers a Military and Family Scholarship that recognizes military service members and their dependents. Veterans or active duty members of all services, guard and reserves or their immediate family members are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

10. Strong Roots

Northwestern College has been providing students with a career-focused education since 1902. With over a hundred years of experience, we have the insight to help shape our curricula and develop programs to meet the growing and shifting workforce demands.
