Northwestern College Seeks Approval to offer a Nursing Program

Northwestern College has applied for approval to offer an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. Based on approvals*, the degree is tentatively projected to start in early 2010, and will be offered at the Bridgeview Campus where up to 32 students will be enrolled during its first year.

*The Illinois Board of Higher Education has approved the College to offer an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. Further applications for approvals have been submitted to: The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Board of Nursing.

In addition to the standard admission requirements of Northwestern College, the currently pending nursing program will also require the following:

  • Completion of a college level introductory Biology course, taken within the past 5 years, with a grade of "C" or better.
  • Completion of a college level introductory Chemistry course, taken within the past 5 years, with a grade of "C" or better.
  • ACT minimum test scores of: reading 21 and mathematics 20; or, SAT minimum test scores of: reading 510 and mathematics 520.

Additional admissions requirements will be provided if and when the program is approved.
