Executive Accounting Program Overview
- Perform general accounting procedures including journalizing business transactions, posting to the general ledger, preparing the trial balance, and adjusting accounts
- Prepare income statements, statements of cash flow, statements of stockholders' equity and balance sheets for business entities.
- Analyze financial statements for internal and external decision-making purposes
- Prepare annual income tax returns for individuals, proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations
- Review and interpret accounting data as applied to planning and controlling functions of management in areas of variance analysis, capital investment decisions, and operational budgets
What You Can Learn
With your associate degree in executive accounting, you will be prepared to:
- Perform general accounting procedures, including journalizing business transactions, posting to the general ledger, preparing the trial balance, and adjusting accounts.
- Prepare income statements, statements of cash flow, statements of stockholders’ equity, and balance sheets for business entities.
- Analyze financial statements for internal and external decision-making purposes.
- Prepare annual income tax returns for individuals, proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.
- Use a computerized software program to perform financial accounting procedures including general ledger processing, financial statement preparation, payroll processing, asset management and inventory control processing.
- Prepare production reports and cost of goods manufactured statements for manufacturing entities using job cost, process cost, and activity-based costing systems.
- Review and interpret accounting data as applied to planning and controlling functions of management in areas of variance analysis, capital investment decisions, and operational budgets.
- Prepare specialty financial statements relating to governmental and not-for-profit entities.
