The Edward G. Schumacher Memorial Library, a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1991. The library is located in the Academic Center at the Chicago campus of Northwestern College (NC). Two branch libraries are located at NC's Bridgeview and Naperville campuses.
Librarians on staff are available for library instruction and individual reference assistance. The Schumacher Library is a member of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) and Online Computer Learning Center (OCLC). Interlibrary loan of books and articles is available through OCLC. Intercampus loan of materials is also available.
The library subscribes to numerous databases for online research and access to full-text articles and reports. These databases provide access to magazine, newspaper, and scholarly journal articles on a host of topics (EBSCOHost, ProQuest Research Library, FirstSearch), medical and business information, encyclopedic entries, specialized reports (EBSCOHost, Cinahl Plus With Full Text, Salem Health, CQ Researcher), and law-related information for legal, medical, and business research (Westlaw).
