Veteran's and Other Aid Programs

It just Makes Sense To Continue Your Education

Do not normally make up a substantial portion of your financial aid package and may not be available to all students. However, for students that do qualify they may be of significant benefit. We strongly urge all of our students to spend a little time and contact the individual programs and do a little research on the Internet or at your local library to learn about these lesser-known programs.

Veteran’s Benefits

are available to veterans depending on their service and their participation in VA Education programs. There are also programs for children of deceased, disabled veterans with service-related disabilities, Illinois Army/Air National Guard and the Illinois POW/MIA Scholarship. Eligibility is based on criteria established by the Veteran’s Administration but include the length of service, number of dependents and the number of enrolled hours the students is carrying. Federal Aid to Native Americans

is available to students who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian Tribe, Alaska Natives, or ¼ degree Indian blood descendent of a federally recognized tribe. Most programs are based on financial need and the availability of funds. Eligibility is determined and administered by your tribe and may be awarded in successive years based on the students satisfactory academic progress. Information and applications are available from the education office of the tribe with which you are affiliated or possess membership. Social Security Survivor Benefits

may continue to be available to students after the age of 18 if they continue enrollment in an accredited institution of higher education. Students should check their local social security office for information on continued eligibility and benefits.

Illinois Vocational Rehabilitation Grants

students with disabilities that interfere with employment may qualify. Eligibility is determined by the Illinois Department of Human Services – Vocational Rehabilitation Office regional offices. Students wishing more information may visit the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services website.

Northwestern Payment Plan

Students who do not qualify for sufficient financial assistance, will appreciate our payment plan, which gives students, the option of making payments while enrolled in school. Please contact the Business Office to speak to one of our representatives for further information.

Northwestern GAP Loans

are educational loans that fill the disparity between financial aid and the total cost, which allow students to spread payments beyond their anticipated graduation date. Students wishing further information should contact the Business Office at the numbers listed below.
