We know that you might be concerned about finding a way to pay for your education. That is why Northwestern College offers you the opportunity to apply for numerous scholarships. Last year NC made more than four million dollars in scholarships available to students just like you.

NC Scholarships for Incoming Students

Academic Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-based award is given to students entering an Associate in Applied Science Degree program at Northwestern College. Student must provide a copy of their official high school transcripts or GED scores, as well as a typed essay of a minimum of 250 words explaining why they want a career in their chosen field and why they feel they would be successful. Value: $3,600

Board of Directors Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-based award is given to students who have earned a high school grade point average of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale, and who also perform well on NC's COMPASS placement test. Students must earn an 84 or better on the reading section, a 43 or better on the math section, and a 77 or better on the writing section. Value: $4,800

Centennial Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-and need-based award was established to assist individuals who could not otherwise afford to go to college. Students must be nominated by an organization or high school counselor in order to be eligible. Value: Amount varies (covers all tuition and fees not covered by other aid received).

Cohort Scholarship

This scholarship was established for those students pursuing a  massage therapy or coding specialist certificate in a cohort program.

 Community Scholarship (pdf)
This award has been established to reach out to students from the community who would benefit from a Northwestern College education, but may be unable to attend college due to financial restraints. Students must provide a personal statement explaining their qualifications and two letters of recommendation from previous teachers, advisors, or counselors. Value: $4,800

Early Acceptance Award(pdf)
This award provides a financial incentive to students who enroll full-time in an Associate in Applied Science degree program at Northwestern College. Value: Award amount varies by deadline dates.

Educational Achievement Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-based award was established to recognize students who did not graduate from high school, yet independently pursued passing the high school equivalency exam to obtain their GED. Value: $3,600

Excellence Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-based award recognizes excellent academic achievement, and is given to students who have earned a high school grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, or a score of 26 or above on the ACT. Value: $7,200

Presidential Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-based award recognizes exceptional academic achievement and is given to students who have earned a high school grade point average of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale, and a score of 20 or above on the ACT. Value: $4,800

Scholastic Scholarship (pdf)
This merit-based award is given to students who have earned a high school grade point average of 3.0-3.49 on a 4.0 scale, or a score of 20-25 on the ACT. Value: $4,000

Student Success Scholarship (pdf)
This award is given to students enrolling full-time in the summer 2014 quarter. Value: $1,000

Transfer Student Scholarship (pdf)
This award is given to students transferring to Northwestern College from another college with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale, and a minimum of 18 semester or 24 quarter transferable hours. Value: $1,600

NC Scholarships for Continuing Students

Once you become an NC student, additional scholarship opportunities will become available to you. Applications for these awards can be obtained as you continue your education.

Departmental Scholarships
These merit-based awards are given to Associate in Applied Science degree-seeking students who are attending school full-time and have completed at least 45 credit hours. Each department/program grants one award per year per campus. Value: $1,600

Daniel Lawrence Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Part-Time Students
This merit-based award is awarded annually at the end of the Spring Quarter to one student from each Associate in Applied Science Degree program at each campus. Recipients are selected annually from recommendations made by the program director. Value: $1,200

Louis P. Fuller Advising Scholarship
This merit-based award recognizes students who have completed at least 36 credit hours at NC, are enrolled in an Associate in Applied Science Degree Program, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Value: $1,650 for full-time students; $1,200 for part-time students

Vice Presidential Scholarship
This award is distributed at the end of the Spring Quarter, and is given to students who have completed at least 45 credits, are enrolled in an Associate in Applied Science degree program, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Students must be nominated by a faculty member from their major department on the basis of professionalism, leadership, and service in order to be eligible. Value: $1,800

Tuition Discounts

American Hero Tuition Discount
All current active and retired military personal and  veterans enrolling in a degree or certificate program at Northwestern College are eligible for a 15%  American Hero Tuition Discount.

First Responders Tuition Discount
All current active and retired first responder personnel, including police, fire fighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, enrolling in a degree or certificate program at Northwestern College are eligible for a 15% First Responders Tuition Discount.

Legacy Tuition Discount
Immediate family members of graduates who have earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree from Northwestern College enrolling in a degree or certificate program at Northwestern College are eligible for a 10% Legacy Tuition Discount.
